Whoever performed this restoration took liberties with both style and color, and created a distracting result that interrupts the visual continuity of the painting. We seek to blend and match the original as closely as possible; not to deceive, but to integrate the necessary work with the whole. The old overpaint was removed and our revision of the restoration in this same area is seen at right.
