Inter-layer flaking

May 23, 2013

This is a cautionary tale for working artists as much as anything. Some time after this painting was finished the artist decided to repaint over what must have been a clear blue sky. Reworking gave more interest to the scene, but without proper preparation of the original surface to receive another discrete layer, the bond has failed and the problems are clear.
